What an exciting, and busy week we have had! Grade Six has traveled the world from Brazil, to India with many stops in between!
Congratulations to all HIS students for doing such a great job in exploring your adopted country, and then sharing your knowledge with others. Special kudos to the Grade Six class who did a detailed, entertaining, and informative presentation of Canada!
Please have a peek at the slideshow for a taste of what went on at International Week.

What you can do to help your son or Daughter:
Grade Five
- Please check in with your Grade Five Students to ensure that they are keeping up with their novel study. They should be reading chapters 7, 8 and 9, and completing their bookmarks.
- Grade Five students will be writing their final copy of their persuasive essay this weekend. Please ask your son or daughter to read their finished essay out loud to you. It is an excellent revision technique for them to hear their own words and figure out revision they need to make.
Grade Six
Reading:
- Grade six students have been assigned a final activity for the literature circle they completed last week on the novel Elijah of Buxton. Click here to see the assignment choices. Students have already completed their choice sheet and can begin the assignment this weekend. The project is due March 8th. Click here to see the rubric for the assignment. Please remind your son or daughter to look at the rubric so that they may understand the expectations of the assignment clearly.
Social Studies:
- This weekend Grade Sixes need to create two Animoto slide shows. One show must summarize the rise of kingship in Sumer. The second must summarize the importance of religion to the Mesopotamian people. Click here to see the key ideas from the lesson. Please ask your son or daughter to show you their slide-shows. When viewing the show, please help your son or daughter to ensure that their presentation contains the important points from the lesson.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
