Hello Everyone!
Welcome back! I hope
everyone had a fabulous holiday!
This week in Math we finished Chapter 8: Data
and Statistics and wrote our chapter test.
Next week we will start Unit
Four: Addition and Subtraction of
Fractions and Decimals. In Language
Arts this week we read a new selection called La Bamba, learned the new
vocabulary, and looked at our new spelling words. In Social Studies we discussed Titus, an
escaped slave who went and fought for the British army during the American
Revolution. We wrote journal entries on
whether his actions during the war were bad or good. In Science we have begun Chapter Six: The Earth’s Changing Surface. If you would like to preview anything with
your son or daughter for the week following the holiday, we will be doing the
following:
Math:
- Lesson
9.1: Prime and Composite Numbers
- Lesson
9.2: Prime Factorization
- Lesson
9.3: Greatest Common Factor
- Lesson

Ways you can help
your child this weekend:
- Help your son or daughter review the ideas and concepts in Lesson 1: Earth’s Features in Chapter Six in the Science textbook.
- Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.
A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S.
at 8:20 AM. Students should arrive
before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at
8:20 AM.
Have a great weekend,
Patrick Holt
