Hello Everyone!
This week in Math we have started Chapter 15: Planes
Figures and Geometric Concepts, and we did lessons 1 -4. This week in
Language Arts we began to wrap up the theme by reading two selections that we
will compare next week. The majority of
our week was dedicated to final preparations for Science Fair, which was a
great success on Wednesday! The Grade
Fives did a great job of independently researching, experimenting and finally
presenting their findings. As well, we
did manage to finish up Chapter 9: Weather
and Climate. This week Fifth Graders
published their Photo Story project RETHINK on their blogs. They have been receiving comments on their work
from places such as Bangkok and Canada!
If you’d like to view and comment on their projects click
here to link to their work.
A reminder to everyone that next week is a short week. On Wednesday we are going on our field trip to
the Juming
Museum, and Thursday and Friday is our Mid-Semester Break.
If you would like to preview anything with your son or
daughter, we will be doing the following next week:
Math:
- Lesson 15.5: Quadrilaterals and other Polygons
- Lesson 15.6: Measure Draw and Classify Angles
Language Arts
- Selection Test: Elena
- Theme Review
Social Studies
- Intro to Chapter 6
Science
·
Chapter 10: Earth and its Moon
Ways you can help
your child over the Weekend:
- Preview
Science; Chapter 10: earth and its Moon
- Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.
A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S.
at 8:20 AM. Students should arrive
before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at
8:20 AM.
Have a great weekend,
Patrick Holt
