Hello Everyone!
This year International Week will be held the week of
February 25-27. The Fifth Grade will be
researching and presenting the South American country of Chile. Next week, and the week after the Chinese New
Year Break, we will be using our Social Studies periods to complete these
projects.
Next week is Chinese week, and students will be exploring
Chinese culture in their Chinese classes.
We will also be doing a Chinese themed art project. On Wednesday next week all students are asked
to wear red to school, and on Friday the cafeteria will be cooking a special
lunch. We are asking that parents send
their students with a pair of chopsticks so they can eat the special meal in
the traditional Chinese fashion.
This week in Math we had our Chapter 9 test, and have begun Chapter
10: Adding and Subtracting Fractions. In Language Arts this week we read Mae Jemison: Space Scientist, and next
week we will start a new selection called Iditarod
Dream. In writing students have
turned in their personal essays. In
Social Studies we will be working on our unit Growth and Industries, and researching Chile for International Week. In
Science we will have a test Chapter Six:
The Earth’s Changing Surface, and continue with Lesson 3 in Chapter 7. If you would like to preview anything with
