Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a great holiday with family and friends!
This week in Math we wrote our Chapter 10 Test, and the
results went home to be signed on Thursday. This week we have started working
on Chapter 11: Add and Subtract Decimals. In Language Arts this week we have been
reviewing the reading strategies summarizing, monitoring and clarifying, and
defining the main idea from our Theme Give it all You’ve Got in preparation for
our theme test.
Next week is International Week so most of next week’s
lessons will be dedicating to final preparation and presentation of our
research on Chile. If you would like to
come and see what the Grade Five class has created please see the schedule
included at the bottom of this post.
If you would like to preview anything with your son or
daughter, we will be doing the following next week:
Math:
- Lesson
11.4: Estimate decimal Sums and
Differences
- Lesson
11.5: Problem Solving Decision: Choose a Method
- Chapter Review
Language Arts
- Theme Review
- Preparation for Theme Test
Social Studies
- International Week: Chile
Ways you can help
your child over the weekend:
- Ask
your child to show you a preview of their Chile presentation.
- Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.
A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S.
at 8:20 AM. Students should arrive
before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at
8:20 AM.
Have a great holiday,
Patrick Holt
