Hello Everyone!
A big congratulations to all my Fifth Grade students for getting through four days of Iowa testing. If you are interested in the effectiveness of standardized test in measuring performance in schools, please click here for an excellent article on the topic.
This week in Math we reviewed and we will have the Chapter 15 test on Monday. In Science we finished up Chapter 10: The Earth and its Moon, and in Social Studies we wrapped up learning about the branches of the US government.
If you would like to preview anything with your son or daughter, we will be doing the following next week:
Math:
- Review Lesson 15
Language Arts
· Review spelling list
Social Studies
- Chapter 16: The US National Government
Science
· Chapter 11: Planets
Ways you can help your child over the Weekend:
- review Math Chapter 15, and Vocabulary and Spelling lists.
- Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.
A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S. at 8:20 AM. Students should arrive before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at 8:20 AM.
Have a great weekend,
Patrick Holt
