Hello Everyone!
I have received confirmation and payment from the majority
of parents for our Juming Museum
trip. Thank you for your prompt replies.
The trip’s schedule has not been finalized so please stay tuned for an
update of the day’s activities.
This week in Math we wrapped up Chapter 13: Multiply
Decimals and we wrote the chapter test today. After Spring Break we will
begin Chapter 14: Divide Decimals. This week in Language Arts we wrapped up Pioneer
Girl with a selection test, and have begun exploring the new vocabulary for our
new selection Black Cowboy, Wild Horses.
The Grade Fives has been working very hard to create their own Voicethread
slideshows to help learn the new Vocabulary.
In Science we learned about some online tools we will be using to
complete our Science project, and we checked and did some work on Science Fair. In Social Studies students we started Chapter
5 Lesson 1: Railroads Link the Nation. If you would like to preview anything with
your son or daughter, we will be doing the following after Spring Break:
Math:
- Chapter 14: Lesson 1: Explore Division with Decimals
- Lesson 14.2: Estimate Quotients
- Lesson 14.3: Multiply and Divide by Powers of 10
- Lesson 14.4: Divide a Decimal by a Whole Number
- Lesson 14.5: Write Zeroes in the Dividend
Language Arts
- Black Cowboy, Wild Horses
- Vocabulary Test
Social Studies
- Chapter 5: Lesson 2: New Industries
Science
·
Chapter 8:
Using Resources Wisely: Project
Ways you can help
your child over Spring Break:
- Review
the new spelling words for Black Cowboy, Wild Horses.
- Review
the Vocabulary for Black Cowboy, Wild Horses.
- Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.
A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S.
at 8:20 AM. Students should arrive
before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at
8:20 AM.
Have a great break,
Patrick Holt
