Hello Everyone!

We had a lot of fun with Spirit Week the past few days!  Have a look at the slideshow embedded at the bottom of this post.

This week we have finished Chapter 12: Multiply and Divide Fractions. Over the weekend students will do their chapter review, and bring any questions or concerns to class on Monday.  We will have the chapter test on Tuesday.  This week in Language Arts we finished up with the story A Boy Called Slow with a selection test.  On Monday there will be a vocabulary test.    In Science students are looking at the use of natural resources, and we watched several videos clips on the Great Garbage Patch in the North Pacific.  In Social Studies students we covered Chapter 4 Lesson 2.  If you would like to preview anything with your son or daughter, we will be doing the following next week:

Math:

• Chapter 12  Review

• Chapter 13:  Multiply Decimals.  Lesson 12.1: Explore Multiplication
• Lesson 13.2: Multiply Whole Numbers and Decimals
• Lesson 13.3: Estimate Products

• Preview new Story: Pioneer Girl pg 499 in text

Social Studies

• Chapter 4: Moving West Ward Lesson 3

Science

Ways you can help your child over the weekend:

• Review A Boy Called Slow Vocabulary.  See slide show here.
• Review Chapter 12:  Multiply and Divide Fractions
• Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.

A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S. at 8:20 AM.  Students should arrive before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at 8:20 AM.
