Hello Everyone!
Please have a look at the
student generated VoiceThread for this week’s vocabulary! They would love if you left a comment!
You should have received a notice home this week about our
May 1st field trip to the Juming Museum. May 1st is a regular day of school
and all students are expected to attend.
The Fifth graders will be given assignment that will challenge them to
explore Juming’s art during the excursion, and create a presentation of their
trip afterwards.
This week in Math we wrapped up Chapter 12: Multiply and Divide Fractions with a
chapter test. Grading sheets and the
results of the test went home this week to be signed. We have started Chapter 13: Multiply
Decimals. This week in Language Arts we covered new vocabulary, and read a
new selection called Pioneer Girl. We
also had a lesson on propaganda, and stressed and unstressed syllables. We also
wrote a test on last week’s skills and grammar. In Science we finished up the lessons on natural
resources, and will be starting a project next week. In Social Studies students we finished Chapter
4. If you would like to preview anything
with your son or daughter, we will be doing the following next week:

- Lesson 13.4: Multiply Decimals
- Lesson 13.5: Zeros in the Product
- Lesson 13.6: Problem Solving Decision: Reasonable Answers
- Chapter Review
- Chapter 13 Test

Ways you can help
your child over the weekend:
- Review
A Boy Called Slow spelling words.
- Review
Chapter 13: Multiply Decimals Lessons 1-3
- Encourage your son or daughter to read twenty minutes a day in English.
A friendly reminder to everyone that class starts at H.I.S.
at 8:20 AM. Students should arrive
before 8:20 AM so they have time to unpack their bags and be ready to learn at
8:20 AM.
Have a great weekend,
Patrick Holt
